- Red Cross assists two displaced families this week

The Northern Nevada Chapter, American Red Cross has provided emergency assistance to two local families who were displaced from their homes this week due to fires.

On October 6, two Red Cross disaster volunteers responded to a Carson City apartment fire to help a family of three. The family was provided with lodging in a motel, as well as a debit card for food, clothing and other necessities.

Three disaster volunteers assisted a family of five on October 8 after they were displaced from their Sun Valley home due to fire. This family was also provided with lodging and a debit card for food, clothing and other essentials.

Red Cross caseworkers will follow up with the affected individuals to continue to provide for their immediate needs and to refer them to other partner organizations that can help them with their recovery efforts. 

On average in Northern Nevada , the Red Cross provides emergency assistance to families displaced due to a home fire once every three days. Since July 1, the Northern Nevada Chapter, American Red Cross has assisted 48 families who have been displaced from their homes due to fire or other disasters.
